Are you considering getting into investing? Are you feeling overwhelmed and don’t know where to start? It can be very daunting to enter the
investing world as a beginner; you may be confused or unsure of what to invest in. Here are 5 tips to keep in mind when embarking on your first investment journey:
1. Set some goals – Think about what you want from your investments.
Money is the end goal, but it’s also important to consider capital and
income.
2. Take stock of your finances – Be realistic about how much
money you can invest. You’ll need enough
money to pay for rent/mortgages, food, bills and other essentials, so only invest
money that you have spare.
Investing is important, but it also can be risky.
3. Educate yourself – It’s good to know about the market and learn the terminology. It’s important to understand about market efficiency and
stocks,
bonds, mutual funds and certificates of deposits.
4. Start small and start early – If you’re just starting out, start small until you understand the market better. The earlier you start, the more
money you’ll end up with as your earnings will compound over time.
5. Make automatic transfers – Set up a limited amount of
money to automatically invest every month – this will mean that you’re not spending it!
