British starts headline 2027 Tour de France routes

Organisers have unveiled the 2027 Tour de France routes, confirming British starts for both races and a significant role for time trials in the men’s competition.
The men’s race opens in Edinburgh on 2 July, with the first stage finishing in Carlisle. Further British stages run from Keswick to Liverpool and Welshpool to Cardiff before the event transfers to France.
Reuters reported that the route includes 71 kilometres of individual time trials, split between stages around Blois and Chambord, and Toulouse. That is the largest combined distance against the clock since 2012.
The mountains remain central, with demanding Pyrenean stages late in the race. Organisers have included seven flat stages across approximately 3,479 kilometres.
The Tour de France Femmes begins in Leeds on 30 July and finishes on the Puy de Dôme on 7 August. Its nine stages cover approximately 1,156 kilometres and include an 18-kilometre team time trial in London.
The announcements establish the terrain around which teams will prepare. Overall contenders must balance time-trial performance with climbing strength, while the British stages bring both events to new roadside audiences before racing continues in France.
