Have you started implementing new
habits into your lifestyle? Are you finding it difficult to stick to them? It can sometimes seem impossible to break bad
habits or create new, positive
habits. Here are some common mistakes to avoid when creating new, healthy
habits:
1. Changing too much, too soon - A new habit is best implemented in baby steps. If you want to spend an hour each day working out at the gym, start with 45 minutes, 3 times a week. Start with small changes, then once that habit is set, slowly add more.
2. Failing to create short-term and long-term goals – A lot of people forget one or the other. Short-term
goals help you to celebrate small victories and long-term
goals give you something to work towards. Make sure you write down both!
3. Expecting a new habit to be easy - Change isn't easy, and many people become discouraged when they don’t see results as fast as they’d like. Start with small changes, then work from there.
4. Expecting a new habit to be too difficult - The opposite is also true. If you expect the process to be exceptionally difficult, you'll also struggle. The thought of doing anything that's hard can be sufficient reason to never get started in the first place, so work on a generating a
positive mindset and start small. Healthy
habits are possible to implement if you start small and have patience.
