An Amazon cargo jet crashed after overrunning the runway at Miami International Airport, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries. Federal investigators are actively examining the circumstances surrounding the incident to determine the cause.
The cargo plane, arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico, veered off the runway on Sunday afternoon.
The aircraft collided with vehicles on a road adjacent to the airport, which is used by warehouse workers and other businesses.
At least five individuals lost their lives in the crash.
Five other people sustained injuries, with three in critical condition and two hospitalized with less severe injuries.
It remains unclear whether the pilots were among the fatalities or if those killed were exclusively occupants of the vehicles struck by the plane.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has announced plans to conduct a press conference on Monday to provide further details and updates.
