European auto giant Stellantis NV is set to form a new joint venture with its Chinese partner, Dongfeng. This strategic move is part of Stellantis's broader efforts to adapt to the evolving automotive landscape in China, particularly concerning the electric vehicle (EV) market. The joint venture aims to rebalance the ownership structure of their existing operations and strengthen their position.
- Stellantis plans to acquire a 40% stake in Dongfeng's LCV business, with Dongfeng retaining a 60% stake. This partnership will focus on developing and manufacturing light commercial vehicles (LCVs) for the Chinese market. The deal includes a cash dividend of approximately €225 million to be paid to Stellantis.
- This collaboration is a key element of Stellantis's Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan, which emphasizes leveraging partnerships to achieve growth and competitiveness in critical markets.
