Thumbnail
Caltrans is undertaking a multi-year maintenance project on Highway 101 in Buellton, California. This project involves extensive reconstruction and upgrades aimed at improving the safety and longevity of the roadway.
  • The project includes the reconstruction of shoulders, replacement of concrete pavement, overlaying existing asphalt, ramp reconstruction, drainage repair, electrical upgrades, and the installation of new guardrails. This work spans approximately ten miles of US 101.
  • Beginning Monday, June 8, lane reductions will be implemented, with the right lane closed in both northbound and southbound directions between Nojoqui Creek Bridge and north of Avenue of Flags and Damassa Road. This will reduce traffic to a single lane in each direction.
  • Additionally, the Santa Rosa Road northbound and southbound ramps, and the northbound Damassa Road off-ramp, will be closed for approximately three months for reconstruction and bridge safety upgrades. Drivers are directed to use the Highway 246 ramps as a detour.
  • Travelers should expect potential delays of up to 10 minutes. The entire project is scheduled for completion by March 2027, with a contract value of $29.8 million awarded to CalPortland Construction.
