Prague, the capital of the
Czech Republic, is a truly spectacular city. Home to ancient castles and modern art scenes, it can be tricky to try and see everything
Prague has to offer in just one day. However it’s not impossible! Here are our 5 top things to do (and they’re all within walking distance so you won’t run out of time!
1. Prague Castle – The most famous landmark,
Prague Castle is a must-see! It is the largest ancient castle in the world and boasts stunning architecture and gorgeous artworks. Make sure you check the opening hours.
2. The National Gallery – A great way to understand a culture is through its art. The National Gallery displays an extensive range of Czech artists, and you can also see works by Monet and Picasso as a bonus.
3. City Walking Tour – Many of the best sites in
Prague are within walking distance, and a walking tour is a great way to make sure you don’t miss anything. The tour guides are very friendly and knowledgeable – don’t forget to tip them!
4. Visit the Old Town – The Old Town Square in
Prague really does feel like you’ve stepped into a fairy-tale. The Old Town has a jumble of architectural styles and is the home of two famous churches, the Gothic Church of Our Lady before Týn and The Baroque St. Nicholas Church. Don’t forget to check out the unusual medieval astronomical clock (
Prague Orloj).
5. Drink beer in a beer garden – Czechs are known for their beer and there are beer gardens all over the city selling traditional
Czech beer. Find a spot outside and watch the sun set over the city.
