Lost In Random Game Review - A Fresh New Take On Deck-Building Games

Lost in Random is an adventure game/deck-building game set in an eerie, Tim Burton-esque world ruled by chance…and dice. You play as Even, a young girl on a quest to find her sister and accompanied by a large sentient dice that has magical powers.
The story is creative and just the right amount of creepy, and it’s easy to get completely sucked in to the lore of the world and the stunning visuals. Characters are full of personality and masterfully voice acted, and the worldbuilding is a definite strength of this game.
What is especially fun about Lost In Random is the combat system. The enemies carry special crystals that you need to collect in order to draw cards into your hand. Your cards can be anything from weapons to traps to healing potions – it will just depend on the order that they are drawn. You can also use Dicey, your bubbly dice friend, to freeze time and roll for tokens. It sounds complicated, and it definitely can be a challenge with some of the harder enemies. But it is an undoubtedly unique combat system that is lots of fun to master.
A main criticism of the combat is that collecting crystals can be tricky and often takes away from the many other elements of the fight. The fights are also fairly long, and you might find yourself getting bored of the waves of cookie-cutter characters. Deck customisation is a great addition, but a larger variety of cards might add some more different playstyles.
If you’re a fan of story-driven games, gorgeous animation and creepy fairy-tales, this is a game for you. If nothing else, play it just for the unique combat system
