Do you struggle with dry, brittle hair? It can be a massive pain – it breaks, falls out, is tricky to style and hard to grow out. There are many reasons for frizzy, dry
hair; weather, sun damage, styling with heat tools, genetics, the list goes on. You may have tried many of the products on the market and become frustrated at the lack of results. The main key is hydration, and here are some handy tips to ensure that your
hair stays hydrated and luscious:
• Increase water – Not drinking enough water is one of the main culprits to dry
hair and stunted
hair growth. Make sure you’re drinking at least 2 litres of water a day.
• Avoid heat – Styling with
hair dryers, curling irons and
hair straighteners can damage your
hair very quickly. Avoid doing this as much as possible, and if you absolutely need to, have your devices on a low temperature and use a good-quality heat protection spray.
• Limit shampoo – Shampooing your
hair too often will strip the natural oils from your
hair. Twice a week should be the goal. If you need to shampoo more than this, find a product that’s free of sulphates, silicones and alcohol.
• Always use conditioner – Conditioner adds back the moisture that shampoo strips. This also helps with detangling and breakage.
• Find a hair mask that works for you – Try to use a
hair mask once a week –
hair masks are designed to deeply nourish and moisturise your
hair. If you don’t want to buy another product, there are many recipes online for homemade
hair masks that target different
hair types.
