A senior Pentagon official revealed that the estimated cost of the war in Iran has increased to $29 billion, a rise from the previous $25 billion estimate in late April. This escalation in financial expenditure highlights the ongoing economic burden of the conflict.
- The United States has committed an additional $1.8 billion to support Ukraine's defense against Russian aggression. This brings the total U.S. security assistance to Ukraine to approximately $37.4 billion since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022. The latest package includes a range of critical military hardware, such as High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), Patriot missile systems, Javelin anti-tank missiles, and TOW anti-tank missiles. Ammunition for these systems is also a significant component, alongside armored vehicles, mine-clearing equipment, and secure communications systems. The funding is intended to bolster Ukraine's capacity to defend its territory and regain lost ground, addressing immediate battlefield needs and supporting longer-term military objectives. This sustained financial and material support underscores the strategic importance the U.S. places on Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of continued Russian military action.
