Sports Illustrated has identified the Commanders as a top destination for the veteran player, who could address a need on their defensive line.

Clowney played for the rival Dallas Cowboys in 2025, leading them with 8.5 sacks in 13 games, alongside 10 QB hits and 12 tackles for loss. Despite being 33 and having moved between teams frequently in recent years, Clowney has shown consistent productivity, achieving 8.5 or more sacks in three of the last five campaigns.
