Today’s home cooks are looking to really step-up their culinary game, and the first step in doing so is working with legit ingredients. One of the main ingredients that’s made a name for itself in recent years is
balsamic vinegar. What’s crazy is that while this ingredient has started to really stake a claim as a
kitchen powerhouse for the last few years, aged balsamic has been around for thousands of years, often showing up during archaeological digs around the world
Balsamic vinegar is a very popular
cooking ingredient, so here are some ways to use it in your own
kitchen:
Dessert — Pair it with strawberries, figs, apricots, or even chocolate truffles, and you’ll never eat
dessert the same way again.
Marinades — If you’re intent on combining flavours with the
balsamic vinegar, use it to marinade pork, chicken, and beef. A little will go a long way, but the flavour profile you’ll create will be something else.
Mixing a Drink — If you’re giving up soft drinks but still want some fizzy goodness in your life, try
balsamic vinegar with some sparkling water.
Salads — All you need is a drizzle of
balsamic vinegar and a drizzle of olive oil to make the perfect Italian salad!
Finish a Meal — In the same way you can use a touch of extra virgin olive oil to top off a dish, balsamic can do the same but in much more complex manner.
Don’t be afraid to experiment – it’s not unheard of to add
balsamic vinegar to ice cream!
