Commute No More! How To Set Up Your Dream Home Office

Like many other
office workers, I’ve found myself working from home much more frequently. I love working from home (and definitely don’t miss commuting!) but I initially felt a little overwhelmed when it came to setting up my home
office. How do you even begin to figure out what you need to make your
office space productive and comfortable?
After some experimenting, I’ve put together this handy list of things to keep in mind when creating your home
office:
• Find a comfortable chair - This is the most important factor to consider. Your
office chair needs to support your back and posture and as you’ll be sitting for a while, you need to be comfortable! I tried out tons of chairs before I found the right one, so make sure you do plenty of research.
• Set up a memo board – Whether it’s a whiteboard or a pinboard, this is a fun way to brainstorm, write reminders and personalize your
office.
• Have an organized
storage system – I don’t know about you, but I get very stressed when my
desk and
office are cluttered. Home offices can be quite small, but there’s plenty of
storage options that can declutter a small space. I personally find colour-coded
storage boxes perfect for the job.
• Decorate with a personal touch - You want your
office to feel like you. Incorporate your favourite colours, hang posters and artwork that inspire you, invest in a
desk organizer that matches your
desk, anything you feel will make the space feel personal to you.
• Add a touch of nature – Having plants in the
office is known to increase
productivity and boost mental health. My favourite
office plants are peace lilies and bamboo – they help purify the air and add a much needed splash of colour.
