Only 22 years of age, Chloe Kim is undoubtedly one of the best snowboarders in the world and one of the most famous Olympians. She is the reigning
halfpipe and superpipe gold medallist and is likely to compete at several more Winter
Olympics, as well as having her own Corn Flakes box, appearing on “The Masked Singer” and even having her own Barbie doll.
Kim soared into the
snowboarding game at a young age; she was just 14 years old when she became the youngest ever gold medal winner at the 2015 X Games. She went on to win the X Games and the US
Snowboarding Grand Prix the following year.
Chloe Kim was only 13 in 2014 and couldn’t compete at the 2014 Winter
Olympics, however she was able to compete at the Lillehammer 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games. Kim blitzed the competition and took out gold in the
halfpipe and slopestyle, as well as being the US flagbearer and making a world record score in Youth
Olympics history for
halfpipe.
Her greatest triumph came in 2018 in PyeongChang when she became the youngest woman to win an Olympic
snowboarding gold, with a score of 98.25. Kim is fluent in Korean and her parents were South Korean immigrants, so she was popular with fans both in South Korea and the US. The 2018
Olympics made Kim famous around the world, as well as the youngest
halfpipe gold medallist and the first
athlete ever to win all four major
snowboarding titles in the
Olympics, Worlds, Youth
Olympics and X Games.
