The "Catch Ah Vibe – Scoop & Smiles" event is an annual celebration held on Mass Avenue in Indianapolis, dedicated to mental health awareness and community connection. It serves as the official post-event gathering for the NAMI Walk 2026.
  • The event is a collaborative effort by Scotchy Jamaican Grill and Howdy Homemade Ice Cream, founded by Chef Marlon Llewellyn. Its primary goal is to foster unity through food, music, and discussions about mental health, while also supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Sataria Carter, an ice cream scientist, highlighted that the event aims to spotlight mental health challenges and build connections, noting that one in five Americans experience mental health issues.
  • Howdy Homemade Ice Cream actively employs individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, aligning its mission with mental health support by providing them with opportunities for a good life and income. The event will feature sampling of specialty ice cream flavors, including unique offerings from Scotchy Jamaican Grill and global flavors introduced to the Midwest. Chef Llewellyn emphasized the critical need for open conversations about mental health, particularly for men during Men’s Mental Illness Awareness Month, stating that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Scotchy Jamaican Grill, under Chef Kelsey, continues to share family recipes through private dining and catering.
