Maruti Suzuki has expanded its manufacturing capabilities with a new production line at its Kharkhoda plant. This significant expansion increases the company's overall annual production capacity.
- Maruti Suzuki has initiated production on its second assembly line at the Kharkhoda plant, located in Haryana. This new line is projected to add an annual production capacity of 2.5 lakh units.
- With this addition, the total annual production capacity for Maruti Suzuki across all its plants now stands at 26.5 lakh units. The company's previous capacity was 24 lakh units per annum.
- The Kharkhoda plant is a new greenfield facility for Maruti Suzuki. It is expected to reach its full operational capacity of 10 lakh units per annum by 2025, with the initial phases focusing on increasing the output.
- The investment for the Kharkhoda plant is approximately Rs 11,000 crore. This plant is crucial for Maruti Suzuki's future growth strategy and aims to meet the increasing demand for its vehicles in the Indian market.
- The first production line at Kharkhoda commenced operations in April 2024, contributing to the plant's initial output. The addition of the second line signifies a rapid ramp-up of production at this new site.
