NASCAR president Steve O’Donnell honored the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, stating that Busch competed with an intense drive despite his proven success. O'Donnell highlighted Busch's quiet support of teammates and his dedication to his family, noting these qualities would be deeply missed. Samantha Busch was visibly emotional during the tribute. O’Donnell assured the family of NASCAR's unwavering support, emphasizing they are "NASCAR family forever." He concluded by stating Kyle Busch was unique and an integral part of NASCAR. Busch passed away on May 21 at 41 due to sepsis from severe pneumonia, having fallen ill while preparing for the Coca-Cola 600. Richard Childress Racing has reserved Busch’s iconic No. 8 car for his son Brexton.
